“A facility like that, I don’t think, is a bad thing”
Anglers again are trying to reel in a boat landing intended to lure more fishing competitions to Lake Murray.
The idea is resurfacing as part of a plan taking shape for new waterfront facilities.
It’s the latest attempt to revive a dream beached by opposition from shoreline homeowners.
A landing designed for competitive fishing would enhance the sport both for those taking part and for those who don’t, some anglers say.
‘It’s fun to go fishing, but I love competition,’ said Al Odom of Irmo, national director of Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail. ‘A tournament-style landing is what’s needed to attract many of these major-level events.’ Read more
