We had a pretty good day offshore. The only issue, aside from a dive boat coming up and anchoring next to us – then sending divers down under our boat – were the barracudas. Present over every wreck or reef, these big logs station themselves under your boat and wait for a free meal to come up on the end of your line.
Why they don’t grab the smaller fish is beyond me. But, get a good sized snapper on and watch them take off after it. We had to release all the red snapper because the season is closed. We had two up to about 25 pounds. One had his tail section removed by one of the logs. Sadly, we could not keep the fish, so it became more food for the logs as it drifted away under us.
