We were fishing the jetties this week at the mouth of the St Johns River in North Florida.  The wind and seas were so high we could not get close to the jetties, so we anchored along an eddy on the incoming tide, fishing the bottom for redfish.  Some big bull reds had been caught earlier in the week, so we thought we would try our hand.
Tim, my fishing partner and his son Patrick asked what the commotion on top of the water was all about.  I looked up and saw a huge bull red floating upside down and kicking on the surface.  As I watched, it became evident that someone had caught this fish and had not taken the time to properly revive the fish prior to releasing it.  These fish fight so hard that they need care before a release.  The tide carried it past us and into […]
