Surfcaster Elliot Sudal caught something he wasn’t expecting Sunday night. Sudal was surfcasting for bluefish in Sconset when he managed to reel a seven-foot shark onto the beach long enough to take a few photos and then release it back into the surf alive.

Cleared the inlet around 6:25 Saturday with a crew of 4 plus my recon man Pat. Hunted pogies with little to show from one throw, they were just scattered everywhere but never balled up anywhere, so we pointed her east for the 50mi ride to Elton.
