The 2010-2011 oyster season for public seed grounds east of the Mississippi River and in Hackberry Bay will remain closed for now. The season, which was originally supposed to open Nov. 15, 2010, has been under evaluation each month at the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission meetings since November. The Commission has elected to keep the season closed each month in order to allow oyster spat (young oysters less than one inch in length) to develop.

KINGMAN, Ariz. — The last time rainbow trout were stocked at Watson Lake in Prescott, John F. Kennedy was still president and landing on the moon was still seven years in the future.
That is going to change the week of Jan. 9 as the Arizona Game and Fish Department has received clearances from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stock rainbow trout into the lake owned by the City of Prescott. The clearances received in November paved the way for stocking trout for the first time since 1962.

College bass fishing is a relatively new sport and many don’t know much about it. Walker Smith is president of the Georgia College Bass Fishing Team, the number six college team in the US last year, according to the FLW. He has done well in several tournaments and hopes to have a professional bass tournament career.

Walker has a blog on his bass fishing experiences and has written several articles for this site and will do more. This one is a general overview of college bass fishing and has some links to sites for more information. Watch for more information on college bass fishing teams and his experiences.
