RALEIGH, N.C. – Kids can fish for free and register to win prizes, including two lifetime licenses, at one of 43 kids’ fishing events conducted across the state in late May and early June.
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, in cooperation with Neuse Sport Shop, Trout Unlimited, Bass Pro Shops and the U.S. Forest Service, is supporting these fishing events as part of National Fishing and Boating Week 2011.

Illegally harvesting Florida’s most important freshwater sport fish is serious business, as one Putnam County man found out Monday. He is charged with 141 counts of illegal fishing activity involving largemouth bass and a few other species. Each count is a second-degree misdemeanor.

Annapolis, Md – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) would like to remind recreational crabbers to install the required Turtle Excluder Device (TED) on their crab pots.
As warm weather arrives, waterfront property owners along Chesapeake Bay tributaries will set crab pots in anticipation of catching, steaming and enjoying Maryland’s signature delicacy. Every spring and summer, DNR receives reports of diamondback terrapins that are trapped and drown in some of these pots.
