One of the least-expensive yet best places to fish this fall is the 1,540-foot-long Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The big action on the pier on the Gulf of Mexico this fall is monster-sized king mackerel and 20-pound-plus redfish. According to the unofficial mayor of the pier, Pete Aguon, “Don’t forget that anglers have been catching big Spanish mackerel that have weighed from 2 to 5 pounds for the last 3 weeks, and they should be here at the pier throughout the fall. Too, we’ve had anglers catching king mackerel by the bucketfuls.”

OLYMPIA – The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission has approved changes in its policy for managing Dungeness crab in Puget Sound that could increase sport crabbers’ annual catch by 40 percent.
The new policy, adopted on a voice vote, eliminates current catch quotas for the popular sport fishery and instead establishes a fixed season for recreational crab fishing in Puget Sound.
