COLUMBIA, S.C.-Jonathan Dawes, a 13-year-old Boy Scout from Tacoma, Washington, and his father, Daniel, flew to Montgomery, Alabama, to fish with legendary angler Hank Parker.
Jonathan, who has the Life Scout rank, participated in a fishing contest at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, and he caught a 5-pound, 1-ounce catfish that earned him an all-expenses-paid fishing trip with Berkley pro Parker.

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. — A stream recovery project in downtown Idaho Springs has gotten an $80,000 boost from a Colorado Division of Wildlife Fishing is Fun grant.
For decades, the health of Clear Creek in Idaho Springs was seriously impaired by mining runoff, inadequate sewage treatment and channelization from adjacent road and highway construction.

Sharp-eyed residents of Louisiana’s Cross Lake will notice an unusually high number of youth anglers on the water this Thursday and Friday, Oct. 28 and 29.
By squinting – or, easier, by simply asking – an observer could deduce that the kids are competitors in the 2010 Junior Bassmaster World Championship out of Shreveport-Bossier City, La., a 12-person competition of six anglers within two age groups (11-14; 15-18). It will run concurrently with the Oct. 27-29 BASS Federation Nation Championship.
