Great Prizes at the BigFishTackle.Com Utah Burbot Bash Jan. 23rd

Comments Off on Great Prizes at the BigFishTackle.Com Utah Burbot Bash Jan. 23rd

The 2010 Burbot Bash will be held at the Buckboard marina area of Flaming Gorge on the 23rd of January at 1pm, 2010. We had a great turn out last year and would like this year’s event to be even better. We did have some very minor problems with awarding and distributing prizes at last years event so we have come up with a set of basic rules that we hope will make it easier to manage the give-away this year. If we can get most of the give-away work out of the way before the actual event, we can focus on the event itself on the 23rd. Thanks for understanding and your cooperation. Hope to see more of you out there this year. Here are the rules:
1. Each individual entering for the drawing must be a registered Big Fish Tackle (BFT) website member. This includes spouses and children. If […]

LORAN-C Will be Terminated In February

Comments Off on LORAN-C Will be Terminated In February

It’s official. From the United States Coast Guard web page – LORAN-C will be terminated on February 8, 2010. It has been decided that the system was not needed “after certification from the Commandant of the Coast Guard that it was not needed for maritime navigation and from the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security that it is not needed as a backup for GPS.”
Unfortunately no one certified that it was still used by many fishermen to locate wrecks, and reefs. I wonder how many of you still use LORAN-C and how the shut down will afect you…
