Two tournaments held last year are back. The Okoboji Hardwater Open will be held at Okoboji Lake, January 8-9, 2011 near Milford, Iowa. The Big Creek Hardwater Open is held January 29-30, 2011 near Des Moines, Iowa.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has approved a new rule, reducing the daily bag limit for trophy bass at Orange and Lochloosa lakes in Alachua County. The largemouth bass fishery at Orange Lake Fish Management Area is booming, with many bass weighing more than 10 pounds; some exceeding 15 pounds have been documented.
