Have You Ever Caught A Deformed Fish?

Comments Off on Have You Ever Caught A Deformed Fish?

Steve sent in a picture of a curved spine walleye he caught in Illinois and asked how to measure it to see if it was legal. We often catch fish with deformities and the curved spine is fairly common. Have you caught a deformed fish? How would you measure this one, and would you eat it?

I have a few pictures of deformed fish in the gallery linked to by the picture. Send in any you have that I can add.

Night Time Flat Fish – Flounder Gigging

Comments Off on Night Time Flat Fish – Flounder Gigging

Now is the time to begin seeing the flounder as they move inland from their winter offshore homes. Miles of intracoastal waterways, tidal creek shorelines and flats can be found from the Northeast coast , down around Florida, all the way to Texas. Flounder can be taken with a gig and a light using this method in all of these areas, but check your local laws and regulations before starting out.
