CLACKAMAS, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife today approved a temporary rule increasing the combined steelhead/salmon bag limit to total of three fish a day on the Willamette, Clackamas and Sandy rivers, effective June 18 through Oct. 31.

Sacramento, CA — June 29, 2010 – In response to requests made by the Partnership for Sustainable Oceans (PSO), United Anglers of Southern California (UASC) and the city of Redondo Beach, the California Fish and Game Commission has agreed to schedule one scoping meeting for the South Coast phase of the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) at a time, date and place to be announced. The decision was announced during the June 23-24, Commission meeting held in Folsom, California.

Brunswick, GA – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is currently accepting written comment on proposed changes to commercial shad fishing regulations. The proposed changes, if adopted by the DNR Board, will prohibit commercial shad fishing in the Ogeechee, Oconee, Ocmulgee, Satilla and St. Marys rivers. Also proposed are changes that limit commercial shad fishing in the Altamaha River to the area below U.S. Highway 1 and in the Savannah River to the area below Highway 301. Regulations for recreational shad fishing will not be changed.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Television celebrity Hank Parker will be on hand at the 2010 Scout Jamboree August 2nd to present the Jamboree’s highest fishing award. The Grand Prize for Angling, sponsored by Berkley, is an all expenses paid trip for a scout and a parent for a fishing outing with Parker. WARRENTON, VA- The 4th Annual Bass Fishing Tournament near Warrenton, VA resulted in a superb turnout with plenty of bass boated by happy anglers. The majority of anglers were Purple Heart recipients, most of them from nearby Fort Meade in Maryland. The event was organized by the Paralyzed Veterans of America- Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund (PVA-ORHF). Each angler was guided by a bass fisherman, who donated their time and provided their personal boats for the cause. Many of the fishermen compete in local bass tournament circuits.
