COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A Denver Water proposal to increase the amount of water being diverted to the Front Range would impact five rivers on both sides of the Continental Divide, according to a report presented to the Colorado Wildlife Commission Thursday.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Game and Fish Department will host a public meeting and webcast in Phoenix at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, to discuss draft updated regulations and a draft management plan to help fight the spread of aquatic invasive species in Arizona waters. The meeting will be held at the Game and Fish headquarters at 5000 W. Carefree Highway (1.5 miles west of I-17), Phoenix. It can also be seen live over the Internet at www.azgfd.gov/webcast.

SOCIAL CIRCLE, GEORGIA – In news that is sure to be welcome in the current economy – some of the transaction fees for recreational licenses are being reduced, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division. The internet transaction fee is going from $2.75 to $2.50 and the in-store transaction fee will go from $3.25 to $3.00. The telephone transaction fee will increase, going from $4.00 to $5.00. These fee changes will go into effect on Jan. 3, 2011.

WASHINGTON-A woman was indicted Friday in the Eastern District of Louisiana for allegedly filing fraudulent claims for compensation due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Four other individuals were charged this week in Alabama, Michigan, and Mississippi for fraud related to oil spill compensation claims, in addition to two defendants previously indicted on Nov. 22 and 24 in Texas and North Carolina.

BENTON, KENTUCKY – Three legendary lakes will serve as hosts for the 2011 Bass Pro Shops PAA Tournament Series presented by Carrot Stix.
The season begins in late March on Lake Lanier in northeast Georgia, known for its outstanding spotted bass fishing. The series moves to Missouri’s famed Table Rock Lake in June to tangle with the mix of largemouth, spots and smallmouth. The season wraps up in August on Neely Henry Lake in east Alabama, where the PAA Angler of the Year race and qualifications for the Toyota Texas Bass Classic will be finalized.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Few world-fishing records have been as elusive as the yellowfin tuna, standing since 1977 – until now. Fishing on December 6th, Mike Livingston of Sunland, Calif., never thought it possible to hoist up a yellowfin that would potentially topple the previous 33-year old world record of 388 pounds, 12 ounces. However, Livingston caught a giant 405.2-pound giant yellowfin tuna, making good use of the PENN International 30SW, and threatening the 33-year old record.
