ATHENS, Ala. – Henry Fristik “just went fishing,” but caught the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, New York East Division 23 tournament title.
The Chester, Mass., angler boated 30 keepers, bringing five weighing 19.10 pounds to the scales to win the Boater Division in the event held Aug. 14, 2010, out of Fort Ticonderoga town ramp on Lake Champlain. He anchored his bag with a 4.86-pounder to collect $2,502.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will reopen state waters offshore of Escambia County to the harvest of shrimp at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 17. The FWC had temporarily closed this area to the harvest of fish, shrimp and crabs on June 14 as a precautionary measure due to possible effects of oil from the BP Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The FWC reopened the area to the harvest of fish on July 31.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Marine Resources Division (MRD) announces the re-opening to the harvest of fish from all areas previously closed as a precautionary response to the presence of oil from the Deepwater Horizon Incident. These areas include all Alabama Gulf of Mexico waters out to three miles and the remaining closed waters of Mobile Bay that are just north of the Fort Morgan Peninsula. These waters reopened at 6 a.m., Monday, August 16. This includes both commercial and recreational fishing. In addition to finfish, the area north of Fort Morgan is also open to shrimping.
