NOAA is taking comments prior to its final ruling on the proposed closures contained in amendment 17B. Basically this amendment all but closes the fisheries for deep water grouper and tile fish from 240 feet of water out 200 miles along the south Atlantic coastline.
You can see the bulletin here that has the proposal.
All of this is in addition to Amendment 17A which has already been put into place, closing the season indefinitely on red snapper and putting seasonal closures on grouper and some other bottom species.
If you are a deep water fishermen, and admittedly they are a bit rare in comparison to all other anglers, you need to post your comments to NOAA.
