As I suspected, the The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has closed all commercial and recreational fishing in the waters from the mouth of the Mississippi River in Louisiana to parts of Florida, including Pensacola Bay. The report defends the closure as a safety concern. The closure will remain in effect for a minimum of ten days, and more closures are expected.
My fear is that this is just the beginning. As the oil slick progresses toward and around Florida, I believe we will see similar closures, possibly all the way up the east coast of the United States. Stay tuned!!
