There is much outcry from both conservative and liberal groups about the possibility of Obama banning sport fishing. An ESPN blog got it started and many on both sides have run with it. The controversy revolves around the ending of the public comment period for a policy group studying what to do about fishing zones and where you can and can not fish.

Fishing has already been banned by the Bush administration in some areas. This was done supposedly to protect endangered or threatened fish species. One comment on the liberal Media Matters site asks “When did fishing become a right?” Actually, many states, including mine here in Georgia, have passed constitutional amendments that says hunting and fishing is a right.
