JAMESTOWN — At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will conduct a Waterfowl Hunters’ Information Night at Cloud County Community College’s Cook Theater. KDWP staff will give hunters an update on local waterfowl hunting areas, new maps, insider tips, upcoming seasons, understanding regulations, and information about what every duck boat should have. KDWP staff from Glen Elder, Jamestown, and Lovewell wildlife areas will be available to answer questions.

Hands-on environmental learning is now available through “Creek Kids,” a partnership of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division and Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. The Creek Kids Program teaches students in grades four to eight about aquatic environments.

About 300 adult Snake River sockeye salmon will be released at 1 p.m. Wednesday September 9, at the public boat ramp on the west side of Redfish Lake.
Officials with Idaho Fish and Game, Bonneville Power Administration, NOAA Fisheries, and Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Idaho will be present for release and to answer questions from the public and news media.

Unlike the past three years, kokanee fishing in Coeur d’Alene Lake will remain open for harvest throughout the entire year.
Recent surveys show adult kokanee have increased in abundance and will provide enough kokanee for a fall fishery as well as plenty of adults to naturally spawn in the lake.
