Teaching children a lifelong hobby, instilling an appreciation for our marine environment and providing a fun, family outing are the objectives for the Pensacola Kids’ Fishing Clinic.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the Department of Environmental Protection, the Pensacola Recreational Fishermen’s Association, Wal-Mart and the Sport Fish Restoration Program will present a free Kids’ Fishing Clinic for children ages 4-14 on Saturday, May 16. Registration will be 8 a.m. – noon. The clinic will be at the new Plaza De Luna at the end of South Palafox Street, at the former site of the Bayfront Auditorium.

AUSTIN, Texas – Because of a sponsorship revenue decline related to the economic recession and increased operational costs, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is cancelling the Texas Parks & Wildlife Expo set for Oct. 3-4 in Austin. The agency will suspend the Austin event for at least this year and 2010 and will instead expand efforts to support similar events around the state.

That means you have the opportunity to fish public waters, excluding tribal trust land, from 12:01 a.m. on Friday through midnight on Sunday without having to have a fishing license. One important thing to remember, even though you may fish without a license all other rules must be followed.
