FLORIDA SPORTSMAN LOOKS AT THE POWER DRIFT

Comments Off on FLORIDA SPORTSMAN LOOKS AT THE POWER DRIFT

It’s all about the power drift on this week’s episode of Florida Sportsman, airing on The Sportsman Channel. One of the best methods for targeting various types of game fish is to drift while keeping an eye on your bottom machine. The drill is to stop if you hookup or find fish; however, in some cases, anchoring can be problematic. Anchoring in a flats boat or smaller center console can be dangerous when it’s too deep to stake out or if you’re in a ripping current. During this episode, David Conway fishes Cape Canaveral for snapper and grouper while power drifting over bottom structure. Meanwhile, Jeff Weakley power drifts the Ft. Pierce Inlet because of all the moving water. In the Conservation Minute, Florida Sportsman founder Karl Wickstrom discusses decisions to limit the catch of red snapper to the general public that will not curtail commercial fishermen.
