COLUMBUS, OH – Plant species enthusiast Jim Bissell, the late forest preservationist Robert Redett, dedicated natural resources educator Jim Rinier, passionate environmentalist Nelson (Bud) Talbott, and true conservationist Georgia Welles will be inducted into the Ohio Natural Resources Hall of Fame at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 10 at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Fountain Square Complex in Columbus. The Natural Resources Hall of Fame is the state’s highest honor awarded for conservation.

There’s no such thing as the angler who has everything. There’s always room to cram one more lure in the tackle tray, forcing the lid shut. Every garage stall has shelf space for one final fishing gadget. If it doesn’t, put in another shelf. Cut and dry, if it’s gifted, and built for catching fish, you’ll gladly receive it (even if you have one like it)and create space for it (even if a physical assessment says there’s no room at the inn).

MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 24, 2009) – The National Guard FLW College Fishing Central Regional Championship took place on the famed waters of Kentucky Lake in Murray, Ky. Indiana University students Dustin Vaal and Jesse Schultz started the three-day tournament by targeting schooling bass, a popular fall technique on Kentucky Lake. But they quickly learned schoolers can be feast or famine.

New Berlin, Wis. November 25, 2009 – The battle lines were drawn with a pink food collection bin for ladies and a blue bin for men. They started a 24-day internal war to see who could fill the bins with the most weight in non-perishable food items. Sportsman Channel employees are familiar with helping local human services agencies and shelters year ’round stock their shelves. The network operates Hunt.Fish.Feed, a program that encourages hunters to donate their deer harvest to local shelters. In keeping with this mission of helping those less fortunate, the network’s employees wanted to assist a non-profit human services agency close to their heart in Milwaukee for Thanksgiving: St. Charles Youth and Family Services.
