COLUMBUS, OH – Mentor resident Norm Schultz, a prominent figure in Ohio’s recreational boating community, retired from the Ohio Waterways Safety Council on March 17, following 26 years of service to the organization. The five-member citizen advisory council, appointed by the governor, provides input on boating issues to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.

The deer feeding operation in the Gunnison Basin is continuing; but Colorado Division of Wildlife managers expect that the program should end by mid April.
As of the end of March, the DOW was feeding about 9,100 deer at 114 sites in the Gunnison area. Earlier in the month the number of deer being fed peaked at about 9,500 at 131 feeding sites. Even though temperatures are slowly warming and south-facing hillsides are starting to be exposed, a thick crust of snow two-feet deep still covers much of the basin.

Alsea, Ore – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Oregon State University announced today that they are seeking candidates for the Oregon Hatchery Research Center Advisory Committee.
One member is needed to represent Tribal Fisheries, one member is needed to represent Resource Producers (wood products, ag) and two members are needed to represent Science-at-large. The length of each term is three years, and members may apply for reappointment. Candidates must submit a letter of interest by April 30, 2008. The letter should specify why the applicant is interested and provide three references. ODFW and OSU representatives will finalize their selections prior to May 15, 2008. The next Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for June 20, 2008.
