The Kansas Trapshooters Association (KTA) will host a special trap shooting event for youth at this year’s state trap shooting championships — 3432 East 117th St. North, in Sedgwick — on June 7. The event is sponsored by the Amateur Trapshooting Hall of Fame and the Scholastic Clay Trap Program (SCTP), designed to encourage youngsters to get involved in the shooting sports.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) is mandated by the Kansas Nongame and Endangered Species Conservation Act of 1975 to review all current and proposed threatened and endangered (T&E) species every five years, and 2008 marks another year for review. A Threatened and Endangered Species Task Force comprised of members from state and federal agencies and nongovernmental organizations will review the currently-listed species and those species proposed for listing.

The tags will bring $75 each to anglers who report catching one of the walleyes, whether they keep the fish or release it.
