One of the beauties of living in South Mississippi lies deep within the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
In terms of fishing, there’s a little something for everyone regardless of the time of the year.
During the winter, speckled trout and redfish dominate the scene around the barrier islands as well as near shore in places like Deer Island.
Spring brings the annual cobia migration from the Florida Keys to the mouth of the Mississippi River for spawning.
When summer rolls around, a mixture of fishing is available for light-tackle and heavy-tackle anglers, with trout around the islands and bull redfish schooling up on the south side of Horn and Ship islands. Read more

Anglers fishing with me on the Snook Fin-Addict caught and released snook, trout and tarpon during the past week. It was a tough week for tarpon with wind out of the west early in the week and rough seas all the way through Thursday. Following last Saturdays Tropical Storm Barry, the coastal gulf was very rough and silted up. However, with a switch of wind direction to the west our water has finally warmed to above 80 degrees.
