PORT MANSFIELD — Some people describe Port Mansfield as the last true fishing village on the Texas coast.
You don’t see scores of tourists in bathing suits walking white, sandy beaches. You don’t see high-rise hotels and condominiums. You don’t see gift shops reaching for tourists’ pocketbooks.
Instead, deer and wild turkeys walk the short streets in this hamlet with a population of about 400.
Port Mansfield has one convenience store/gas station, one restaurant, two marinas, a pub and the Sunset House, whose new owners have turned the motel into a very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Read more
