The Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) and the Conserve Wildlife Foundation (CWF) will have manned displays and live animals at the Somerset Patriots baseball team’s Wildlife Conservation Night on September 11. The public is invited to join us at Commerce Park and ticket vouchers are on sale now which benefit the CWF. The vouchers are good for any Patriots game including the September 11 game. Six of the ten dollars for each voucher will go toward endangered and nongame species conservation through the CWF.

AUSTIN, Texas — According to preliminary state data from the new 2006 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated Recreation, Texas led the nation in 2006 with 1.1 million Texans going hunting at some point during the year, while Florida led the nation in total fishing participation with 2.8 million anglers and California was the top wildlife-watching state with 6.2 million of its residents observing wildlife.

Prospective hunters now have another option for taking hunter education training in Arizona.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department has rolled out its new “introductory” hunter education course. The new program can be taken either in a classroom setting or by independent study online over the Internet. Both the classroom and online formats require students to demonstrate proficiency and pass an exam during a field day with certified instructors to complete the course.

SALEM, Ore – Oregon’s Fish Passage Task Force will meet Aug. 24 in La Grande to discuss and make recommendations on current statewide fish passage issues.
The meeting will be held at the La Grande Fire Station, 1806 Cove Ave. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The agenda includes presentations on Grande Ronde fish populations and passage issues, draft bridge guidance, fish passage mitigation banking ideas, and priority fish passage sites, as well as an update on the Department’s passage program and other Task Force business. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
