BAGGS—On August 7, 800 Colorado River cutthroat trout were released into headwater streams of the Little Snake River, as part of a multi-year, multi-agency project to restore the cutthroat to its native range.

Have you ever caught a fish that was older than you? Most people would think not. And that would be true for most species, but it may be possible when it comes to lake trout. Lake trout, also known as mackinaw, are among the longest living and largest fish in Wyoming. In fact, the largest fish of any species ever taken by an angler in Wyoming was a lake trout. The current state record is 50 pounds, actually held by two fish, one from Jackson Lake and the other from Flaming Gorge.

LANDER – On Friday, Aug. 10, Science magazine will publish an article highlighting the great progress made in the recovery of the black-footed ferret, the most endangered mammal in North America.
Wyoming has played a key role in the ongoing recovery of this species, and work done by Wyoming Game and Fish Department Nongame Mammal Biologist Martin Grenier is featured in the Science article. Grenier is the lead author of the article titled “Rapid Population Growth of a Critically Endangered Carnivore.”

Sea Bass and Fluke were on the hit list . We ahd tons of life on the pieces down south the guys had to fish through the pins to get at the keepers but we managed 60 or so nice Seabass and Mr Lou had a nice fish at 4. 8 lbs. We had around 20 fluke in all with all but 1 being just short and released. Fresh clam did the bass in while spering combos did in the Flukes

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding a public information meeting concerning the management of Clear Lake near Talcot Lake in Cottonwood County. The DNR is proposing to formally designate Clear Lake for wildlife management and to create a Migratory Waterfowl Sanctuary. A public information meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at the DNR office, 175 County Road 26 in Windom. This meeting will be an open house style meeting. DNR staff will be available to discuss proposed lake management and answer questions from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Hayes Lake State Park Manager Nick Hoffman said although the boat access is temporarily closed, anglers who want to fish the lake can use the park’s fishing pier and shore fish in the Grefthen Bay area.
