The original Gold Ray Dam log crib structure was built in 1903/04, followed in 1939/40 by the concrete dam. The existing fish ladders were built in 1940 when the concrete dam was constructed. Modifications/upgrades to the fish ladder and counting station were made in 1940 and 1968.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) will be holding a series of three public meetings to discuss changes to deer hunting seasons in southeast Colorado. Specifically, the DOW wants input about whether to offer “whitetail only” deer licenses for the area.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will hold its fall quarterly meeting September 30 through October 1 at agency headquarters, 1601 Elmerton Avenue in Harrisburg.
Commission committees will meet beginning at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, and again at 10:15 a.m. Monday, October 1. The Fisheries Committee meet will Sunday afternoon. The primary focus of that meeting will be a facilitated session with Commissioners as part of the process to update the agency’s trout management plan.

CONCORD, N.H. — A 63-year-old woman is recovering from a chilly night in the woods, having been found by rescuers approximately 10 hours after leaving her daughter’s home on Beech Pond Road in Wolfeboro. New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officers coordinated search efforts for the missing woman, Concepcion “Conchy” Ruiz of Miami, Florida, after a family member notified police she had disappeared from their residence some time during the afternoon on Monday, September 17, 2007. The search began about 5 p.m.

As I stand in my favorite trout stream and cast another fly, I’m reminded of why fall is my favorite time of the year.
After a long, hot summer, I enjoy the cool temperatures of fall and watching the leaves change into their autumn colors. As I listen to the soothing waters of the stream, I watch as a flock of birds flies overhead on its way south.
